Philosophy
meruam is a brand originated in Hokkaido,
a northernmost island blessed with rich nature.
The name “meruam” is derived from
combined words of “imeru” (sparkling) and “ram” (heart) in Ainu language,
originally spoken by the indigenous people of Hokkaido.
Through our craftsmanship, meruam wishes to create timeless goods with natural materials,
made to be with you in the moments filled with delight.
Each piece is one-of-a-kind, carefully designed and crafted by hand.
Together with you, we hope to bring delightful moments in our lives.
Our Story
Founded by Yui Yamaguchi, classically trained in industrial design and woodworking in Hokkaido, Japan, the concept of meruam came to life in her wishes to explore the beauty and possibilities of wood that can be enjoyed in our daily life.
